So I recently went to the cinemas with a friend to see The Spirit, its a new movie based on the comic book series by Will Eisner, here is the plot summary from IMDb ''Down these mean streets a man must come. A hero born, murdered, and born again. When a Rookie cop named Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face who has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold hearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.""

Many have said that the plot of the story is incomprehesable and is too hard to understand, however when i watched the film I understood what was happening and what was going on, albeit the plot is quite complicated but not totally confusing. The Hero of the story is The Spirit who is played by Gabriel Macht, I thought that this character was very interesting, and I thought it was entertaining by his slight wit and how he fell in love with every woman he meets.

The Spirit's nemesis is the slighty mad Octopus, played by Samuel L Jackson, this character is also very interesting, he is funny as he has his mad moments, including Nazi scene's which were a surprise and his wickedness is very entertaining.
The film also features many other female characters that play their parts very well too.

The way the film was made and the image editing was very well done, I loved the way that the film was mainly in darkness with the shadows and the darkness being made the most obvious parts of the imagery, and i also thought that the way they had animated The Spirit's tie and shoes was very cool. I know that some people disagree and say that the whole storyline was rubbish and not interesting at all, however the flm managed to hold my attention and got me into the story, I think that this film will be great for seeing with your family or a friend or two but if you are looking for a light hearted film then this is not the right one for you however for fans of the comic it is not a bad version! 8/10
